Kedarnath temple is located Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river in Uttarakhand state. Because of the extreme climatic conditions, the temple is opened for only six months i.e. the Kedarnath temple will be opened in between April and November months. Mostly from Akshaya Tritiya to Karthik Purnima. During the winter season the lord Shiva’s deity is carried to Ukhimath and performed pooja.
Kedarnath is highest of the 12 Jyotirlingas, and to reach the temple one has to walk uphill for around 22 kilometres. It is said that the temple was built by the Pandavas on the shores of the Mandakini river. The word Kedarnath came from Sanskrit language and Kedarnath means the lord of the field.Sponsored Links
